Finance Department

The Finance Department assists the City Council, the City Manager, and other departments in accomplishing their goals and serving the public by providing timely, accurate, and complete financial reports.

The department's staff handle a variety of assignments including:

Review of all transactions involving city funds
Preparation of the City's final budget document
Collection of City sales tax
Utility billing
Accounts payable
Accounts receivable
Payroll


Department expenditure budgets as well as capital improvement project funds are also regulated through the Finance Department.

Other divisions within the Finance Department include:

Information Systems: Responsible for providing and managing a computer hardware and software environment for all city departments. They are also responsible for training and support service for city employees. GIS is a component of the Information Systems division.
  Geographic Information System (GIS): Responsible for coordinating the City's aerial mapping, produce all zoning maps, provide mapping services for internal departments and host a website available to the public which consists of many types of dynamic maps.

Purchasing: Responsible for the procurement processes for all city departments.  Refer to the City of Durango Purchasing Policy for more information on the City's procurement practices.
