Information Systems

The Information Systems Division (IS) is responsible for the City's information technology infrastructure, assets, applications, systems and projects.

It works with City departments to plan, implement and support information technology strategies and solutions.


IS has the dual roles of supporting City departments in delivering services to city residents and other customers, and of looking beyond the requirements of today’s applications to ensure that the technology infrastructure exists to support future applications when needed.

Information Systems is one of two Divisions under the Finance Department, and is organized by fundamental technical positions, including Geographic Information Systems (GIS) personnel. Staff positions are:

  • IS Manager
  • GIS Supervisor
  • Network Administrator
  • Database Administrator
  • Systems Analyst (3 positions)
  • GIS Systems Analyst
  • Technical Specialist

In addition, three technical staff positions exist among the Department of Library Services and the Durango-La Plata Communications Center.
